Noddy Heroes Have Become The Buddies And Favorites Of Generations Of Children Maturing Worldwide
For loads of folks on the American side of the Atlantic, the name of Noddy signifies absolutely nothing, but for loads of children of a certain generation, it was THE children's Television as well as book personality. Making it's debut on British Television in 1954 and continuing in that same format into the seventies, it was a firm favorite for kids between 2 and eight yrs.
Obviously, children nowadays have a more aware and sophisticated view of the world around them, but the values inherent in this old series have stuck, it appears. Initially created as a kid's cartoon story book written by Enid Blyton, the latest incarnation 'Make Way For Noddy' is in 3D and aired in over 100 different countries around the world. An enormous variety of Noddy games as well as Noddy DVDs are also accessible.
The actions is always accompanied by a lot of fun and laughter, and the underlying intentions are always extremely positive, which is essential for our children. The series is not negative, or downbeat. All things are possible with a good heart. Of course, even amongst Noddy characters, we have the odd personality which is a little tarnished, such as the naughty goblins Sly and Gobbo - great titles for bad goblins. But hey, this is Toy town - nothing really bad ever happens here. Noddy has few friends, like the Tubby Bears (sound familiar?), Big Ears as well as Mr Plod.
The suitably named Big Ears is the one who brought Noddy into Toy town after Noddy ran off from the man who carved him - he is made of wood, you see. At first, the Toys were not sure if Noddy could stay or not, because they thought he was more of an ornament than a plaything. There was a quick trial and, after he also resolved a strange mystery in town, he was permitted to stay.
His buddy Big Ears gave him a house to put together and he settled in, solving the odd confusion along the way. How did he earn a living? Well, toys don't actually do that kind of thing, they more trade off things. Noddy has a red hat with a little bell on the top that sounds when he nods his head, hence the name! He would allow other toys to nod his head back and forward to make the bell ring, and then take little presents of the things a wooden boy in Toy town may need.
He ultimately got to drive around in a small red, yellow and blue clockwork car to visit all his buddies, take Big Ears to places and assist him solve his mysteries. Law and order was kept by Mr Plod, the policeman, who was often putting Noddy straight about some misunderstandings about how Toy town functioned.
