Conditions That Can Cause TMJ Disorder
Sometimes referred to as myofacial suffering disorder and Costen's syndrome, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunctions are complicated problems of the jawbones. Mainly because joints and muscles work together, a problem with either one can create headaches, ear pain, stiffness, malocclusion (bite problems), locked jaws, or even clicking sounds. As we discussed, there are several causes of TMJ disorder.
The following are conditions that can cause TMJ disorder:
Damage to the jaws
Previous fractures within the jaw or facial bones could be a cause of TMJ disorders. Fractures may have been inflicted through different ways, like sports, accidents, or perhaps bar fights.
Teeth grinding and teeth clenching (bruxism)
Until they are told by a person observing this pattern while sleeping or by means of a dental specialist noticing telltale indications of gradual deterioration on the teeth, those who grind or clench their teeth can be unaware of this behavior. Teeth grinding as well as teeth clenching hasten the wear and tear on the cartilage lining of the TMJ, contributing pressure to the adjacent tissues and even bone structure. It annoys many people.
Dental problems and imbalance of the teeth (malocclusion)
Difficulty finding a simple bite or that the way specific teeth fit properly together usually is a major difficulty for patients. Chewing on just one side of the jaw can be a result of or lead to TMJ woes.
Rising up in the morning with jaw or ear pain
It is one of the worst things to greet you prior to breakfast. Most patients rise up earlier than they need or wish to because something's chasing after their ears.
Habitual periodontal chewing or fingernail biting
The human jaw can only chew so much. Subjecting it to a constant chewfest may do more harm than good. Planning that fingernail shorter or just look good, on the other hand, is better set to the proper metal apparatus.
Emotional stress
People who are stressed out either consciously or unconsciously grind and clench their teeth. Unreleased and pent up energy not only leads to bad mood, it also affects the person's actual physical well-being.
Job-related tasks
Holding the telephone between the head and shoulder will probably contribute to TMJ disorders. It strains neck fibers and even muscles, making it stiff, and then giving the person that queasy feeling.
Causes Of TMJ Temporomandibular joint disorder, commonly known as TMJ, is a disorder that causes dysfunction in the jaw and its movement. Different factors contribute to the occurrence of TMJ.
